House Rules

Characters

Rook Lidsberg

Played by Trevor

I'll play a ranger using the revised rules, male, greying hair, middle-aged, human. The pitch is basically that he's taking time off from a life-long career as a librarian to see a little of the world for the first time. Gullible, squeamish around blood, make jokes in inappropriate moments, wears clothes that never quite fit right, and generally seems a little out of shape to be a ranger, but surprisingly flexible when it counts and, if nothing else, loyal. The dark secret is that he's handled some very forbidden magical books with dangerous knowledge that has found a place in a corner of his mind. And, of course, librarians aren't the only people looking for these books and the secrets bound within their pages.

Ephram, Tiefling Rogue

Played by Josh

Mugul Hanagark, Half-Orc Fighter

Played by Kyle

The character is a veteran of a major war that occurred twenty years ago. Now, he's a member of the town guard, but his “guard” duties mostly consist of shaking down the town's inhabitants and racketeering. He's an ornery, intimidating brute, whose daily routine consists of extorting coins from the townsfolk and then using it to drink himself unconscious. He's a regular each night in the town's inn, where he drinks and recounts the same story of his heroism from that long ago war. He wears a necklace of mummified ears from the men he killed an infamous battle, and he'll happily tell you how he killed each one.

Mugul's no stranger to the town's shady characters and undesirable activities. He has a collection of informants that he uses regularly, your character being one. They're relationship lies somewhere on the spectrum between bully/victim and mutual respect.

Clarys Glen, Human Paladin

Played by Lindsey

Ladiana Nightkisser, Drow Sorcerer

Played by Dean

Guy, Rogue/Bard

Played by Eli

He has a real name, of course, but no one knows it. For a while, he was referred to as, “that guy who can get whatever for you” or “the guy who hangs out around the wall” or “chase that guy! He’s getting away!” Over time, it was somehow shortened to just Guy. It’s pretty convenient, actually. Since the town guard as a whole don’t know about the alias, people can refer to him casually, publicly and with impunity. No one gets any information from, “go to the guy and he’ll take care of you.” Those who want to be a little more subtle, use a variety of related names, from the rhyming “Ty” or “Sai” to “the man” or just “him.”
