The Coming of the Zioth

The House of Morenth

As the primary place of worship for a population of six thousand, the House of Morenthplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigMorenth

Morenth's theology revolves around the simple idea that the entire universe belongs to him, and humanity is barely worthy to bask in his radiant presence. Those who refuse to acknowledge this simple, self-evident fact heretics, and deserve punishment or death. There is no repentance for heretics
is an enormous structure, perhaps five or six hundred feet across at the longest, but it's not just one big rectangular building. It looks like it's been added to many times over hundreds of years. Whether the building is bigger or smaller underground is impossible to tell. It is known that a library exists under the House, to which access is severely restricted. Expensive glass windows decorate the upper story, and one large window sits above the main entrance. The only other way in is the priests' entrance, off to one side.

Bathhouses and Purification Rooms

Before entering the sanctuary of the House, one must be clean and purified, through a lengthy ritual. One begins at one of several bathhouses to the south of the House, which smell of perfume136plugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigAppeared or occurred in:

In the morning, Ziedon woke up to an icy breeze -- again -- and lashed out. “Who keeps opening that damned window? I was freezing all night long.”

Kreemon stood up and stretched. “Sorry. I like the fresh air.”

. Then one engages in a lengthy ritual of purification in the nearby Purification Rooms. This ritual must be performed at least once a week.

saw upon entering made him stop long enough that someone almost tripped over him. Thirty feet ahead, suspended from the ceiling, was a massive iron ring, at least eight feet in diameter. The ring was molded in the shape of three snakes, intricately entangled and carved to life-like perfection. The center was occupied by a goat, with eight legs splayed out in all directions. The eyes of the goat and snakes glowed with a golden shimmer that was almost blinding from the right angle. Ziedonplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigZiedon

Meeting Rooms

There are two public meeting rooms (also referred to as reading rooms). One must pass through both of them to reach the library. Each room has a large table. Past the meeting rooms is a long hallway, which eventually branches. One path leads to a door twenty feet beyond the branch, and another leads to the stairwell.

A small round room, decorated with abstract depictions of animals being slaughtered by preditors, with a spiral staircase that goes up and down. The library has a heavy wooden door, which drags when opened. The door must be lifted slightly to open it quietly. It opens to a short, granite staircase, which leads down into the library proper. The oddly shaped library is a maze of bookshelves, some ten feet high in areas where the uneven ceiling is lofted, and others only six feet high, attached both to floor and ceiling. Some of the taller bookshelves have old ladders leaning against them, or stepping stools nearby. Independent shelves are attached haphazardly to the walls. All the shelves are heavily loaded with books.
