The Coming of the Zioth

The Orithorans

This religion, dead for five hundred years, states that all gods bow to the god of justice, and are so far beneath him that they are as the lowest of servants of a king. The Orithory, a deeply carved quarter-sphere of stone that often weighs over a thousand pounds, symbolizes justice, and is thus their primary symbol. The center of the Orithoran religion was in a region they called Yunimplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigYunim / Dunweig

Kreemon walked around the edge of the disgusting pond, looking for any signs that the priest entered it. There were none. Unless Halaren was an excellent leaper, he wouldn't have been able to avoid leaving footprints in the muck. Just to be sure, Kreemon stood still for a while, watching for any ripples in the water that would suggest something larger than a frog or snake hiding in there. Again, nothing. From an ancient journal: The Orithorans have been useful as well, though their warped sense of justice makes it difficult to work with them. I doubt I will live to see a time when Malaenerplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigMalaener

and Meheiral are truly united. I'm not certain I'd want to. […] The mages were prepared this time. The Song of Dissonance alone will not be enough, but the Orithorans have discovered some new knowledge that might help. I wonder where they would get such knowledge? They claim Soudilii, their goddess of magic, is out of favor, but can we really trust anyone who even admits to a goddess of magic? […] The Orithorans go on about their True Justice forbidding any form of magic, while secretly worshiping their own false goddess of magic.

“Something strange is going on at the Temple,” said the deep, throaty voice voice a man behind a wooden pillar.

Kreemon stopped suddenly, and glared at the priest.

Mythology

Orith, god of justice. Orith created all other gods, and rules over them. With the help of his wife, he deals out reward and punishment even to the other gods. Punishments of the gods often amounted to removing their power for a time, and forcing them to live with mortals.

, god of earth, and patron of workmen, creator of land, water and sky.

Zonith, god of life and death, creator of all living things.

Merii, goddess of reward and punishment, wife to Orith.

Lounii, goddess of the wilderness, wife of Mellith.

Soudii, goddess of knowledge, reason, wisdom and emotion, wife of Zonith.

Soudilii, goddess of mysticism and magic, illegitimate daughter of Soudii and a mortal elf. Soudilii is portreyed as a ten-year-old girl. She was born during a period when Soudii was mortal, punished by Orith. Soudilli is the lowest of the gods. She gave magic liberally to her people the elves, and allowed other races to have it as well. There are many stories of Soudilli attempting to subvert Orith, and other stories where Soudilli is in Orith's favor. Similarly, there were periods in Orithoran history where they made much use of magic, and periods where they went on crucades against it, hunting down magic-wielders of all kinds, and burning people as witches.77plugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigAppeared or occurred in:

The goddesses have far less influence than their husbands, to the point where their powers are often said to be wielded by their husbands.

The Zioth

“The Zioth is the Final Judgement. At that moment in time, the world is judged worthy of continuity or destruction. When the inevitable declaration is uttered, Zonith exterminates all life, Mellith the land sea and sky, and Soudii all thought, knowledge and history. Then Orith himself destroys the gods, and recreates them so they may construct the world anew.” “Only one time in a thousand does Orith reverse his judgement. It is common belief that we are now in that thousandth cycle, when the world will at last move forward to the thousand twenty-first year.”203plugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigAppeared or occurred in:

Halaren breathed in deeply and exhaled with vigor as they emerged from the confines of the temple. He seemed genuinely pleased with their meeting with Risen Kanal.
