After questioning Lord Malus, Darkstar, and Silver Spear (the three drow warriors sworn to protect her), Ladiana ordered them to remain at the cave hidden and to continue to surveille the cave. They would report all occurrences upon their lady's commands.
The group returned to the Widow's End to rest for the night and heal.
The following morning, Rook Lidsberg decided to go to the Great Library of Allentia to learn more about the city, its history and important denizens.
Allistair, Magistrate Calavia's assistant, appeared at the door to inquire about progress. He was given one crystal as proof of their investigation and Allistair gave the group 100 gold pieces as an advance.
Mugul and Clarys, followed closely by Guy, went to the garrison headquarters to report to Sergeant Flint, Mugul's nemesis. Before Mugul could be fully harassed and thwarted, Captain Pol Ben Ben appeared and promoted Mugul to Sergeant.
Ephraim and Ladiana went to the nearest alchemist to inquire about the crystal. During the crystal's testing, Ephraim inhaled the fumes and was given a glimpse of the power and seduction of the blue crystal!
The group decided to make another buy from Grimly with the intent of following him or questioning him.
Guy would investigate the southeast side of Allentia City to ascertain the blue crystal's sale and movement, as well as assess the powerbrokers involved.
Ephraim, under disguise, attempted to make a buy. Grimly and his henchman tried to abort the sale and a fight ensued. Clarys, * Mugul, and Ladiana jumped into action. Grimly's henchman was killed by Mugul and Ephraim (still in disguise) was apprehended and jailed. Blue crystal vials and a pouch of gold pieces were taken from Ephraim.
Ephraim was jailed, but later escaped due to easily tricking the guard on duty.
Back together again, the group took Grimly out of the city and deep into the woods, where they interrogated him by using extreme measures. Grimly offered up two other underworld figures that deal in the crystal and work for Daimyo Dom Culleebrie: Gordo Gala, a mercenary-turned-blue crystal dealer, and Decius Sectori, a fight promoter and part owner of The Wyrm Hole, a casino tavern and hotel.
The group went back to the cave opening to hear the report from the three drow warriors. They informed Ladiana that “at least 100 orcs were seen arming themselves and preparing for battle.” It was believed that whoever controlled the flow of the blue crystals, they were gearing for a counter attack on those that disrupted production (freeing the Halfling slaves and killing the Ventra' Azi minions.
