Coran Darkstar, from House Darkstar, despite his name, was the shining star of the weapons class. He had excelled at sword, particularly the scimitar, and had bested all of the students in his class and one higher. Yet, when the lessons turned to the mace and morningstar, Coran lived up to his family name. The morning star, having properties unlike that of the rigid sword, allowed Coran to hook and loop and strike his opponents in improbably angles. He fell in love with the weapon and had begun …Indexplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigThe Story So Far

They Lady freed me, of that I am sure, from the grips of the blue crystal. She lay her hands upon me and I saw once more that which I had been missing. My life. My children, Kaylor and Kayden. And though my husband has long since vanished from sight, I have but one mission in life: spread the Word of Mystra; inform Lady Clarys of goings-on in the city; and serve Her Will in balance of good and evil. 2017-02-20
It is believed that Lord Arioch, the God of Evil, had a wife named Renza Baal, the goddess of pestilence and disease. Although she was devoted to the dark god, Arioch had a wandering eye and fathered many demi gods and powerful immortals. Some of these offspring, Renza knew about; some she did not. But she remained faithful to her husband. During the battle of gods, it seemed that the goddess Lolth, known in Drow tongue as Lloth, fell from grace and eventually joined the ranks of the evil gods. Arioch was smitten by the spider queen and was soon wooing her to his bed.
Renza would have no more of this and separated from Arioch. She went onto her own plane of dwelling and spawned many strange beasts. One of these powerful beasts, she wanted to counteract the dreaded Drow, for whom Lolth held favor. Renza Baal wished to hurt and punish her ex-husband’s mistress and so, the Thoraci were born. Standing seven to ten feet tall, spawning six powerful appendages, they looked not unlike modern day ants which stood on hind legs. The Thoraci had no audible language, but rather communicated through telepathy. Some had minor psionic powers. Their typical weapon of choice was the gythka, a double bladed polearm (Lord Malus uses a variation: thinner blades called a double naginata). The Thoraci were fearsome fighters, never wavering from their mission if their queen so commanded. They never screamed out in pain and would fight to their deaths, always. There was no word or concept of retreat in the Thoraci language. Their exoskeleton is their armor and so they seemed born and bred for soldiering. They have been known to jump as far as 30 feet long and 15 feet high without a running start.
Renza Baal, in her wickedness and jealousy, created the Thoraci for one thing only: eating the Drow. They had a specific and overwhelming hunger to devour the offspring of Lolth. Once their numbers quadrupled that of the Drow, the Thoraci led a long and bloody campaign, bringing the Drow to near extinction. Legend tells that when a party of the Thoraci used the surface to outmaneuver the Drow, they happened upon a band of grey elves in the Canolbarth Forest (north of Allentia City) and feasted upon them. Their bloodlust was renewed, having savored the surface elves.
And so began the Hundred Years War, where all elves pitted themselves against the hordes of Renza Baal. The great Elven kings and Drow queens banded together in a last ditch effort to stop their extinction and finally vanquished the Thoraci. It is also believed that the Drow created the Ventra’Azi in order to help in their fight. The vampyri-like warriors were mindless slaves and killing machines. Although the Thoraci showed no fear, many of their kind were killed by Ventra’Azi.
The legend is written that all the Thoraci were destroyed, sending Renza Baal in a rage of fury and anguish. No Thoraci has been seen in several hundred ages and their memory faded into forgotten lore.
